Super Antique and Stock Antique Tractors

MMTPA Tractor Pull Rules

 

1.       Gasoline tractor fuel and diesel fuel tractors only.

2.       Antique models through 1960  (any questionable age tractor or protest will be decided by a 3 man committee named at each year).

3.       Any questionable age of tractor must have serial number intact and not tampered with.

4.       Tractors must weigh within limits of each weight class.  One(1) entry per class.

5.      Stock Tractors - 1st gear only.

6.       All tractors must start with a tight chain, start off easy, do not jerk sled.  If your tractor has a factory T/A, you are permitted to shift ONE time.

7.       Drivers must remain seated during pull with at least one hand on steering wheel – unless tractor has hand brakes.

8.       Each puller has two (2) attempts to pass the 20 foot mark – pull is official after 20 foot mark is passed.

9.       Track official may disqualify any tractor driver for unsportsman-like conduct, intoxication, or failing to stop when red flagged.

10.       Flagman’s decision is final.

11.   No one is allowed on track except pullers and officials.

12.   Pull is over when forward motion of sled is stopped or when red flag is dropped.

13.   Front wheels may not leave ground more than 18” during pull.

14.   A protest must be filed within the weight class before the next class starts.

15.   In a pull-off situation, tractors must remain as they were during pull competition. Shifting or adding weights will not be allowed and the driver must stay seated on his or her tractor until pull-off is completed.

16.   If the tractor touches the white line, pull stops (signal given by flagman) and is measured.  If you do not stop when signaled by the flagman you are disqualified.

17.   Wheelie bars are mandatory and must meet new standards if questioned.

18.   Persons under 16 years of age must have track official and parent or guardian’s signature and approval before pulling.

19.   Factory high R.P.M. only – 10% over-ride allowed.  Tractors subject to R.P.M. check at any time.

20.   Tractors must retain stock engine and stock appearance where possible.

21.   Tractors are allowed 14” tire width in Classes 1 through 4; 16” tire width in Classes 5 through 11; 18” tire width in Class 12; 23” tire width in Classes 13 and 14.

22.   No altered tires by cutting, trimming, etc. will be allowed.

23.   Add-on weights are allowed.  No weights to extend past 16” from face of front tires.  No duals on rear.  Rear weight bracket shall not extend past rear tires and weights shall not exceed 12” past rear of tires.  Minimum of 10” width opening between rear weights required for access to clevis.

24.   20 inch maximum drawbar height – 18” minimum drawbar length from center of rear axle to center of drawbar hole.  3” minimum horizontal free clevis shall be on tractor.

25.   Drawbar must be stationary with no more than one(1) inch movement vertically, one(1) inch movement horizontally.

26.   No differential or drive line alterations.

27.   All weights must be securely attached to the tractor.  Any ballast lost while hooked to the sled will be cause for the pull to stop (stop signal given by flagman) where the item is lost.

28.   Super Antique tractors – use same rules but can pull in any gear.

29.   Super Antique tractors – can cut tires up to 24.5”.

30.   Exhibition tractors will pull according to attendance.
31.  Speed limit of 4.5 MPH.

Stock and Modified 4WD Truck

1. No Passengers in vehicle.
2. No weight in tool boxes.
3. No Fuel in truck bed tanks.
4. No twin turbo.
5. Approximately 6,000 pounds.
6. Entry must provide clevis and it must be on vehicle when lined up to hook.
7. 26 inch hitch height from ground to hitch point.
8. Modified will be determined according to attendance.

MMTPA Antique Modified Tractor Rules

1. Tractors must use the rear end transmission and sheet metal from a farm tractor of years 1960 or before. Hood may be modified and/or extended to accommodate the automotive engine and transmission.
2. Tractors may have frames extended or replaced, but no part of the tractor (including weight brackets) shall extend further than 13 feet (156 inches) from the center of the rear wheels. The rear weight bracket shall not extend past the rear tires. The font weight bracket must not extend more than 12 inches in front of the furthermost portion of the grill or main frame of tractor. The wheelbase of the tractor (center of front wheel to center of rear wheel) shall not exceed 10 ½ feet (126 inches).
3. Any Ford, Chrysler, or GM automotive OEM 6 cylinder or small block V-8 naturally aspirated cast iron engine (with OEM cast iron heads with original equipment manufacturer number legible on block heads) is allowed. The allowed cubic inch displacement of the engine is 365. No aftermarket blocks or heads are allowed. Only one 700 cfm four barrel (maximum) carburetor with no external modifications with original ID markings. No fuel injections. Aluminum intakes allowed. Camshafts must be of the flat tappet origin with any lift and duration. If a question arises, MMTPA reserves the right to check cubic inches. This may necessitate the removal of a head in extreme cases.
4. Tractors may run a maximum of 6000 rpm’s. Every tractor must be equipped with a memory tachometer and a track official will check the memory tachometer at the end of each pull. If the rpm’s exceed 6000, or if memory tachometer is not working or is obviously inaccurate, the tractor will be disqualified. MSD rpm limiter chips may be supplied by MMTPA so all tractors must be built so as to accept the MSD rpm limiter chips.
5. Tractors may use gasoline or high-octane racing fuel ONLY. NO nitrous or any additives allowed. No pressure fuel tanks. No diesel engines.
6. Tractors may run any automotive automatic transmission in addition to the tractor transmission, or the automatic transmission may be directly connected to the tractor rear end. Tractors may pull in any gear (no manual shifting during the pull).
7. All automotive transmissions must be covered with a current (not over 4 years old) SEMA approved safety blanket or shield (shield must be at least 1/8” steel) and be secured with 5/16”, grade 8 bolts. The bolt spacing should not be more than 8” on center. The shielding should be 360 degrees around the width and length of the transmission.
8. The drive shaft to the original tractor transmission (or differential if not using the tractor transmission) must be shielded 360 degrees with 1/4“ steel or 3/8 “ aluminum and fastened every 6 inches with 3/8” (grade 5 or better) bolts.
9. All engines must be equipped with an electric cooling fan. No OEM or OEM replacement fans are allowed.
10. Harmonic balancers must be bolted to crankshaft.
11. All automatic transmissions must be equipped with a safety switch to prevent starting unless in park or neutral.
12. All tractors must be equipped with kill switches and wheelie bars as specified by MMTPA. Kill switches must cut off the ignition and stop the electric fuel pump, if so equipped.
13. All tractors must be equipped with a “return to idle” dead man throttle.
14. All exhausts must point straight upwards.
15. An ABC 2 ½ pound fire extinguisher must be mounted within easy reach of the driver.
16. Hitch point must not be over 21 inches high or closer than 18 inches from a line extending center to center of the rear wheels.
17. Tractors must have wide front ends that track within the rear wheel tracks. Tractors must be inspected by a MMTPA technical team and passed before pulling.
18. Tires may be cut.
19. Maximum tire width is 18.4 inches and maximum wheel diameter is 30 inches.
20. Maximum width of tractor is 90 inches.
21. Weights must be able to hang and be secured on both front and rear weight brackets.
22. Tractors must have fenders that are a minimum of 2” higher than the tires and are wide enough to cover the driver’s body.
23. Tractors must have safety shields of a minimum of 1/8” thick steel or 1/4” thick aluminum on each side of the engine extending the full length of the engine. The shield must extend at least 2” below the point of the lowest throw of the crankshaft end to the top of the piston travel. Shield must not be attached to the engine. Starter, motor mounts, and other accessories do not qualify as being part of the shield.
24. All tractors must be equipped with a rill bar or a roll cage. The roll bar and roll cage must be of sufficient strength and height to protect the driver. A factory made ROPS will be adequate. All roll bars, roll cages, and ROPS must be attached to the main frame or axels of the tractor. Roll bars or roll cages and ROPS must be sufficient strength steel to protect the driver and support the tractor in the event of an accident. No automatic exhaust pipe or aluminum piping will be allowed for construction of roll bars or cages. MMTPA reserves the right to check thickness of steel tubing if questions arise.
25. Tractors must have back on seat. Minimum of 6 inches high, measured from the top of seat rim.
26. Tractors must be equipped with seat belts and driver must have them fastened while pulling.
27. It is required that drivers wear helmets when pulling.
28. Any tract over speeding or reckless driving will be subject to disqualification.
29. All safety requirements of MMTPA will apply to the Modified Class
30. Tractors must have description of tractor printed or written on tractor in full view of spectators. I.E. Chevy Powered WD Allis or WD Allis Chalmers powered by Chevy motor, etc.
31. Minimum age to drive Antique Modified Tractors is 16 years old
